Here’s some truth for you: The Big Ten is one of the “biggest” and best conferences out there in most sports. The Big Ten is full of excitement, talent, and great competition. People love watching sports, especially in a tough conference such as the Big Ten.

In the sport of volleyball, the Big Ten conference is the most difficult conference to play in. Senior libero Caitlin Cox talks about what it is like to play in the Big Ten. Cox says, “The competitiveness of the conference is what brought me to the Big Ten. The older girls in my club played in that conference and it was the goal of my former teammates and I to follow in their footsteps.”

The Big Ten is a demanding conference because of the level you have to perform at. Cox says, “It was definitely a job and you were constantly on somebody else’s schedule. You were never on your own time. But it was an awesome experience to play at the unique places such as Purdue and Nebraska because of their fans and atmosphere.” A Big Ten competition is always a blood battle and an exciting one to watch.

Cox talks behind the scenes of playing in the Big Ten,  “Although it is a job, people don’t truly know how spoiled we are. We have a charter plane for every game we go to, free tutors, catered food for every team event or pre game meal, post game meals, loads of free gear, the experience of getting to know other athletes, and much more.” There is a lot to playing in such a tough and exciting conference that many people don’t know about.

The Big Ten continues to entertain sports fanatics. It seems to be an enjoyable challenge playing at such a level. It is a conference that many kids dream to play in, and those that do cherish the experience and memories.
