With March Madness quickly approaching I felt it was necessary to organize a list of the best Twitter users to follow during this glorious time of the year. This can be anyone from experts to players to even random fans who can add a little flavor to the discussion. Links to the specific accounts can be found by clicking the pictures or names.
The Experts
Jay Bilas has taken the Twitter world by storm since he joined just over a month ago. He has eclipsed over 30,000 followers and should be a must-follow for every college basketball fan. Where else can you find the classic Bob Knight and Digger Phelps stories?
Dan Dakich, the ESPN analyst, radio show host, and former IU coach is another new addition to the Twitter world. While IUSC’s Cody Sharrett has confirmed that Dakich doesn’t really understand how to use Twitter just yet, you can always count on some great thoughts on the college basketball world.
John Gasaway is a writer for Basketball Prospectus and ESPN Insider. If you want statistics that look beyond the box score, he is one of the best.
Gary Parrish is a college basketball columnist for CBSSports.com and hosts his own radio show in Memphis. Just one of the best writers/social media personalities on college basketball. It also takes something extra to be able to write a story calling for fans to root for both Duke and North Carolina.
Dick Vitale has spent more than 30 years as a broadcaster in college basketball with over a thousand games to his credit. While many like to bring up his infatuation with the Duke’s and North Carolina’s of the world, few can downplay his impact within the college basketball world. He is also known to be great at answering fan questions and responding to comments.
Stay tuned for part 2 of the March Madness Twitter Guide where we will look at the best of those who actually play the games, the student-athletes.
