Review
The next edition of EA Sports’ FIFA series brings very polished gameplay to the table. Upon playing this game, my first thought was that FIFA 12 will definitely be raved about when having the discussion about what sport video game most resembles the actual sport. With only a few tweaks to the game play and controls, any type of gamer can easily pick this game up and be blown away.
The game sports many different modes, including, Be-A-Pro, league, and manager mode. While most people would rather go onto Xbox live and play a quick match against a friend, being able to have different choices is always nice.
The one big change between this year and last year is definitely the defensive controls. For the experienced FIFA player who is used to double-teaming and tackling, these controls will definitely take a bit of time to get used to. While the controls and game play do feel a bit weird and annoying at first, it creates the authenticity of the game’s real feel. When watching a real soccer match, one doesn’t see defenders lunging left and right. Real defense is done with patience and fundamentals, not constant pressure and taking risks.
For the next step in video game soccer, FIFA 12 has definitely set a steep curve for others to keep up with. The realistic gameplay gives the user complete control over their player and allows them to do anything they would want to in real life, plus more. In-depth controls are really what gives this game the extra edge, but it is a fun game for all to play. Complete with an arsenal of moves, crosses, shots, and headers, this game is another perfect 5 out of 5 on the rating chart and continues to not disappoint.
